|Piggies at the Topsham Fair|
The Union Fair is this week and it's one of the best, it's officically a blueberry fair but there are things for everyone, from the cutest animals "evah" to bands and motorcycle shows. There are blueberry dessert giveaways, Moxie products to buy, and this year the local fair are doing something new...admission is more but it included rides! That means Aunt Sally can do the bumper cars with you! It also means you have to try and remember the last time you were on a ride and if you have had too many pies the last 10 years to qualify for the zipper! Thats what went through my mind at the Topsham fair last week...wow. I was getting the calculator out..
Don't forget the Great Falls Balloon Festival is this week, the Maine Highland Games & Scottish Festival is Saturday the 18th, Great State of Maine Air Show is the 24th -26th, with many exhibits and plenty of food, Windsor Fair is the 26th thru Sept 3rd. For Tall Ship fans the Camden Windjammer Festival is the end of August, in Sept there is the Lewiston/Auburn Greek Festival , the International Seaplane Fly-In, the Harvest Hoot 2012 Festival - Camden Snow Bowl , the famous Oxford County Fair, the organic Common Ground Country Fair and then the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta and the Pemaquid Oyster Festival. Not to be missed, the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest Regatta is video taped and boradcast on local TV for all to see.
The fair season ends with the Fryeburg Fair, and Maine starts to get ready for winter. Yes I said the W word. Why do you think Maine has to many fairs, we have to have fun before it starts snowing!
